The World's Ancient Cultures in Danger Map

A wall map designed for elementary school children will highlight the most endangered sites and cultures around the world. A number of these maps will be available free of charge to teachers of grades two through five.

We are working with archaeologists and educators at major universities and institutions—as well as primary and secondary school teachers—to produce the map for use in the classroom. This colorful map is complete.

We would now like to enhance its educational impact by adding lesson plans and a teacher's manual. We would also like to create an interactive, more detailed, digital version to further expand its reach. We have the potential to reach a valuable resource for protecting cultural heritage—our young children. In order to continue this important work, SAFE needs your support.

The Puffin Foundation has awarded SAFE a grant that will go towards the production of the map.

The World's Ancient Cultures in Danger Map is available for purchase here. NOTE: Sizes smaller than 29" X 23" are NOT recommended.

Help us create lesson plans, a teacher's manual, and develop an interactive, digital version.
