Cultural heritage in dangerSuccess stories
SAFE aims to show that looting and the illicit trafficking of antiquities destroy humankind's common heritage. In this section, we will highlight reports about arrests, the return of artifacts to their archaeological origins, and other positive developments. We want to show that legislation and enforcement, together with media support, can bring positive outcomes. However these efforts only address a small part of the problem. The wholesale destruction of our cultural heritage has reached a scale never known before. Only with greater awareness and public involvement can we achieve true success. These stories are by no means complete. We rely on all of you to keep your eyes and ears open and to send us the latest news from your countries.
